Plan the garden around the way you use it
The best place to start is with the everyday details. Where do you sit outside? Which route do you take around the house? How much lawn do you want to look after, and which parts of the garden would you rather keep?
We help Dunsborough homeowners work through those questions, then bring the agreed layout and materials together. Southern Craft Landscapes is based in Busselton and serves Dunsborough, Yallingup and the wider South West.
You can enquire about a single outdoor improvement or a complete front- or backyard project. If you already have a design, let Tom know what you want built and which parts of the work are already arranged.
Choose the work that suits your project
Complete landscaping: design and construction that brings the different parts of the yard together.
Natural lawn installation: buffalo, kikuyu or couch, with soil preparation, turf laying and aftercare advice.
Synthetic turf: artificial-lawn installation with ground preparation and finished edges.
Reticulation: a watering layout planned for the lawn and garden areas.
Custom pathways: gravel and stone-paver routes through the outdoor space.
Custom decking: timber and composite options for relaxing or entertaining.
Fire pits and steel edging: outdoor features and defined edges between garden surfaces.
The quote will confirm the specific services, materials and preparation included in your project.
Make the most of the layout you have
Keep the parts that still work
An established garden doesn’t always need a complete restart. Identify the planting areas, surfaces or outdoor spaces you want to retain, then consider how the changes will meet them. Photos showing the whole yard help explain those connections.
Think about movement and access
A path needs to take you somewhere useful. A deck needs enough room for its intended use, and lawn edges need to work around the rest of the space. Include gates, steps, doorways and access limits in the first discussion, especially where materials will need to be carried through a side passage.
Choose a maintenance routine you can manage
The balance between lawn, planting and hard surfaces affects the ongoing work in a garden. Tell us how much mowing and garden care you want to do. Natural turf, artificial grass and different deck finishes each have their own care needs, so the choices should reflect the way you’ll use and maintain them.
What to check before a larger project
For a proposed deck, structural feature or substantial change to a property, check the relevant planning and building requirements before construction. The City of Busselton’s planning guidance covers proposed development and includes information for the Old Dunsborough Special Character Area.
Requirements depend on the actual property and proposal. If you have existing approvals, a site plan or conditions that affect the work, mention them with your enquiry. A town name alone doesn’t determine what is permitted on a particular block.
From ideas to an agreed scope
Start with your Dunsborough location, the work you want to do and a rough sense of the size. A budget range and preferred timing are helpful, particularly if you’re choosing between several improvements.
We’ll discuss the site, materials and project priorities before setting out the proposed work in a quote. For a wider landscape, it’s useful to plan the lawn, irrigation and finished surfaces together even when you’re still deciding which elements to include.
Quotes are free and no-obligation. The cost and timing depend on the preparation, access, materials and scope, so we don’t apply one standard figure to every yard.
Tell Tom about your Dunsborough project
Use the enquiry form to share your location, the changes you’re considering and anything important about access or timing. If you have photos, a plan or existing approvals, mention them in your message.
Do you work in Dunsborough and Yallingup?
Yes. Both are within the areas we serve from our Busselton base. Include the property location and a brief description of the project so we can discuss the next steps.
Can you help plan a front yard as well as a backyard?
Yes. Tell us how the space should work, what you want to keep and what you’d like changed. Lawn, garden beds, paths and other elements can be considered as one layout.
What if I’m deciding between natural and artificial lawn?
We offer both. Sunlight, how the area will be used, site preparation and ongoing care are useful starting points for the discussion. The dedicated lawn pages explain what each installation involves.
Do I need plans before making an enquiry?
No. Ideas and a practical description of the space are enough to begin. If plans are already available, let us know so they can inform the discussion and quote.
Can you quote one part of a larger plan?
Tell us which parts you want included and which work will be done separately. That helps define the boundaries of the quote and identify any preparation or sequencing that needs to be considered.
