Irrigation that fits your outdoor space
A useful reticulation layout starts with the shape of your garden, the areas that need water and the water supply available. Those details influence how the system should be arranged.
We provide custom reticulation design and installation for homes in Busselton, Dunsborough and Bunbury. From a new lawn to a complete yard fit-out, we can help you plan the irrigation alongside the rest of the work.
What are you planning to water?
A new lawn
The irrigation layout should suit the lawn’s shape and edges. Planning it before turf is laid gives you the chance to consider coverage and pipe routes while the ground is accessible. We can combine reticulation with natural lawn installation.
Garden beds
A garden bed may need a different watering approach from the lawn beside it. Planting layout, the size of the bed and its position in the garden all matter. We’ll discuss the areas you want irrigated when planning the installation.
A whole new landscape
Paths, decks, lawn and planting areas all affect where irrigation can go. Including reticulation in the landscape plan helps coordinate the underground work before finished surfaces are in place. Explore our complete landscape construction service.
The details that shape the system
Before choosing a layout, it helps to work through a few practical questions:
Which lawn and garden areas need watering?
Where is the available water supply?
Is there existing reticulation to take into account?
Are you keeping the current garden layout or changing it?
Will paths, paving or other finished surfaces affect access?
Are lawn and garden areas likely to change again later?
Water pressure and flow also influence how much of a garden can be watered at once. A design needs to account for the supply available rather than simply adding more sprinklers.
If you’re unsure what’s already installed, describe what you can see and send photos. That gives us a useful starting point for discussing a new installation.
Planning and installation
1. Start with your garden
Tell us what you’re building or changing, where the property is and which areas need irrigation. Include any plans or photos you already have.
2. Work through the layout
We’ll discuss the lawn and garden areas, the existing site and the reticulation design. If the work is part of a bigger project, the layout can be considered alongside paths, beds and turf.
3. Confirm the scope
Your quote will identify the proposed installation. This is the time to confirm what’s included and how it fits with any other landscaping work.
4. Install in the right sequence
Reticulation needs to be coordinated with site preparation and finished surfaces. Planning the sequence early helps avoid reopening newly completed areas.
What affects reticulation installation costs?
The area to be watered, the number of separate watering areas and the layout of the block all influence the amount of work and materials. So do the available supply, equipment selection, access and any existing hard surfaces that affect installation.
Send Tom a plan or rough sketch if you have one. Photos of the lawn, garden beds and existing equipment can help explain the project. We provide free, no-obligation quotes for the agreed scope.
Let’s plan your reticulation
Use the enquiry form to tell Tom which areas need watering and whether you’re installing lawn or changing the garden. Include your location and let him know if you have photos or plans.
Is reticulation the same as irrigation?
For a home garden, the terms are commonly used to describe the watering system. Our service covers planning and installing reticulation for outdoor lawn and garden areas.
Should reticulation go in before a new lawn?
It’s best to consider both together. The irrigation layout and installation need to be coordinated with ground preparation and turf laying, rather than treated as an afterthought once the lawn is finished.
Can lawn and garden beds be planned together?
Yes. We can consider both within the design. Different parts of the garden may need different watering arrangements, so tell us about the planting areas as well as the lawn.
Can I keep my existing reticulation?
Tell us about it before we quote. Whether it can be incorporated into a changed garden depends on the existing system and the new layout. Its presence alone doesn’t establish that it will suit the project.
How often should I run my reticulation?
That depends on the plants, season, soil and system, as well as the watering rules for your property. Check the current guidance for your supplier: Busselton Water, Aqwest or Water Corporation.
Do you take on Bunbury installations?
Yes. We welcome enquiries for new reticulation installations in Bunbury. Send your location and an outline of the work so we can discuss the project. Read more about our landscaping services in Bunbury.
